Accumulation of pus at the tip of tooth root or below the root or in the gums. Severe pain with swelling of jaw is usually seen. Bleeding from gums is associated with pus.

Causes
Bacterial infection usually lead to abscessed tooth. It can be due to infection caused by caries of tooth. Any foreign body pricking the gums can also lead to abscess. Jarda and tobacco chewing can also increase the risk of infection to gums when the substances are stuck in the gums, this increases the formation of pus in the gums due to poor hygiene.
