Abscessed tooth

Accumulation of pus at the tip of tooth root or below the root or in the gums. Severe pain with swelling of jaw is usually seen. Bleeding from gums is associated with pus.

Symptoms

  • Pain in the jaws radiating to ears
  • Swelling of gums
  • Oozing of blood occasionally from the gums
  • Soreness of gums with increased sensitivity
  • Bad breath
  • Foul smell in mouth
  • Difficulty in chewing and biting
  • Pain radiating to ears
  • Headache

Causes

Bacterial infection usually lead to abscessed tooth. It can be due to infection caused by caries of tooth. Any foreign body pricking the gums can also lead to abscess. Jarda and tobacco chewing can also increase the risk of infection to gums when the substances are stuck in the gums, this increases the formation of pus in the gums due to poor hygiene.

Homeopathic approach

Homeopathic remedies are useful to combat the pain and reduce the infection. Merc sol, Belladonna, Pulsatilla, Silicea, etc. are few remedies which helps to ward off pus formation and reduce pain.
