Achalasia

It is disorder where the food or liquid passing from the oesophagus entering in to the stomach is difficult. This is due to failure of lower oesophageal sphincter to open completely leading to choking feeling in the pit of stomach.

Symptoms include

  • Difficulty in swallowing even liquids
  • Choking feeling
  • Breathlessness and bloating sensation of stomach
  • Burning in the chest region with pain due to obstruction of food
  • Pain and discomfort after eating
  • Feels something is stuck in the chest
  • Reflux of food back in to the throat
  • Sour eructations

Causes

It can occur due to failure of lower oesophageal sphincter to open completely. Function of valve gets affected due to damage of nerves of oesophagus.

Sometimes it may be autoimmune disorder where the cells attack own body.

It could be hereditary which runs in the family.

Homeopathic Approach

Homeopathic remedies helps to address the underlying cause and helps to resolve the discomfort. If it is due to failure of lower oesophageal sphincter to open completely, then remedies like Bryonia, China, Carbo veg are found to help. If there is burning in the chest then Carbo veg, Calc carb, Mag carb can help. If any gastric symptoms are associated, Robinia and Hydrastis addresses the condition. Natrum Phos and Natrum sulph help in assimilation and doesn’t increase the risk for formation of acids in the stomach.

Our protocols also help in seeing that the regular peristalsis or the rhythmic contraction of the muscles of the oesophagus and the sphincter happens promptly so that further complications of achalasia are prevented.
