The unspeakable trauma can be set at rest with the right therapy
Infertility is a failure to produce an offspring even after a year of conjugal life. If one in six couples in the world are going through this trauma of infertility it is a cause for concern.
It has been found that 40-50 per cent of the occasions of
childlessness it is due to male infertility. Research shows that there
is a drop in the sperm count over the last few decades probably due to
various environmental, dietary and lifestyle changes.
The sperm is produced in the seminiferous tubules of the testes and
there is a power house of organelles attached to it enabling it the
power of movement to reach to the ovum for fertilization.
Infertility could be due to deficient production of the spermatozoa in the testes.
There could also be a hormonal imbalance i.e. not enough testosterone
is produced or the pituitary gland in the brain does not produce the
hormone which furthers the action of the male hormones or it could even
be the hypothalamus. All this can be investigated if there are no
secondary sexual characters or with the help of a simple blood tests.
There could be obstruction of the spermatozoa formed to be released
out of the tubules that can cause the absence of sperm in the
discharge. There could be a local cause like varicocele wherein there is
sluggishness of circulation of blood in the veins that can increase
the local temperature of the testes which is detrimental for the
survival of the sperm.
Local infection of the testes, prostate gland can cause lack of
quality of the sperm. Injury locally to the area can cause deficient
sperm production.
Certain long standing illnesses like cystic fibrosis, anaemia or
sexually transmitted diseases can cause or compound this problem.
Infertility could occur if the total sperm count is less than 60 millions/ml.
Proper nutrition is very necessary as fresh vegetables, fruits,
legumes, nuts and seeds. Homoeopathic medicine has good remedies to see
that various causes of male infertility are addressed. To see that the
stagnation of the blood vessels of the testes is reduced, Hamamellis
helps to start with and surgery should be the option when it is beyond
medication. If the total count is less, medication like Zinc met, if the motility of the sperms is less, Selenium and in some cases of abnormal forms remedies like Lycopodium and Sulph are known to help.
If there is a simple, safe and swift path to recovery of health then it has to be homoeopathy. Founded more than two centuries ago by Dr.Samuel Hahnemann, a German Physician, pained with the therapy of the times was on search for an alternative and discored Homoeopathy.
